Frequently Asked Questions

What to Expect Before You Get Started

About the Service

  • What is WorkSitter?

WorkSitter is a human-first productivity organization built on a simple belief: getting things done is not a willpower problem, it's a presence and capacity problem. We pair visionaries, entrepreneurs, and neurodivergent professionals with carefully matched WorkSitters who sit alongside them, help them focus, and get things across the finish line.

WorkSitter is a social enterprise: priced for growth, not for profit. We proudly allocate 70% of income from WorkSitter sessions and virtual assistant tasks to our Teammates. The remaining 30% goes toward Skills & Mindset Workshops, business expenses, and support for our Visionaries and leadership team. This percentage is unheard of in the industry.

In practice, we offer two services: One-on-one WorkSitter Sessions (live focus and accountability), and virtual assistant tasks (asynchronous work done on your behalf). Together, they make delegation finally possible.

  • What is a WorkSitter?

A WorkSitter is a brilliant human being! We are not a generic virtual assistant, not even close! We are highly skilled, highly educated professionals (bilingual communicators, systems thinkers, designers, strategists, and operations experts) organized into a team rather than a marketplace.

Where most VA agencies treat support as a commodity, we see it differently. Each WorkSitter brings a distinct set of skills and a real professional background. We have teammates fluent in three languages, certified in project management, trained in design tools such as Adobe and Canva, and experienced in CRMs, automations, video editing, and more. Know the team!

  • Who is WorkSitter for?

WorkSitter is designed for ADHD entrepreneurs, neurodivergent professionals, solo business owners, coaches, creatives, and anyone who works in non-traditional ways. It's also open to academics and people using it for personal life goals, not just business owners. At WorkSitter, we see you as a true visionary.

  • What is a Visionary?

YOU! Visionaries are amazing human beings who see a bigger vision for the world, for themselves, for the community. We each do this through our offering and service, our little slice of the pie. We, yes, including you, bring change and power to humanity. We build and grow people at every turn. Our vision has no limit. We just need help executing it!

  • Is this body doubling?

No, it's the next level. Body doubling is generally two or more people working on their own projects alongside each other (think “parallel play”): each is doing their own thing independently. We are not working on our own thing; we are there watching you, encouraging you (think trainer and athlete, not workout buddies). During the session itself, your WorkSitter's full attention is on you.

Other services put you in a group with strangers to work in parallel, and that's it. WorkSitter is one-on-one the entire time. Your WorkSitter stays active for the full hour, providing interactive support, tracking your time, helping you prioritize, and acting as a real accountability partner. You are never just another person in a room.

  • Is WorkSitter a VA agency?

Not exactly. WorkSitter is a social enterprise that combines focus support with virtual assistance. Traditional VA agencies focus on task execution: you tell them what to do, and they do it (think order-takers). WorkSitter goes further: we help you figure out what to delegate, stay focused while you work, and then offer to help you with tasks we have witnessed you work on, building the systems that make delegation sustainable. Think of it less like hiring help and more like gaining an accountability partner that can help you complete your tasks after your session.

  • What makes WorkSitter different from a regular VA agency?

Three things. First, it's not just about delegation. WorkSitter Sessions keep you focused on the work only you can do, then we offer up tasks we can do for you (think natural, painless delegation). Second, we carefully match you with a WorkSitter (not just assign whoever's available). And third, 70% of the income from sessions and virtual assistance work goes directly to your WorkSitter. We are a social enterprise, not a profit-extraction model.

How It Works

  • What happens in a WorkSitter session?

Sessions are an hour long. You can arrive knowing you have things to do; that's enough! You do not even need to know what they are! The first thing we do together is figure out what the priority is right now. Your WorkSitter helps you prioritize, break down tasks into smaller steps, track your time, and stay on track until tasks are marked done.

You'll work from your WorkSitter Dashboard: a shared space you use both during sessions and throughout the week. It keeps everything organized and ready, so your WorkSitter always knows where you stand and vice versa! The last 5 minutes are reserved for admin prep: wrapping up, noting next steps, and making sure your Dashboard is up to date for the next session.

  • What if life gets busy and I can't show up or delegate tasks?

That's exactly what our ARO™ list is for. It's a proven system that keeps your WorkSitter moving on your behalf, even when you're in a crunch or on vacation. Your WorkSitter always has meaningful work to do, so momentum never stops. (The ARO™ list will be explained as soon as you join! It stands for Active Requests, Recurring Requests, and Overflow Requests, and is a complete system for proactive, painless delegation!)

  • What if I don't have a task list when the session starts?

No problem. Sessions can start with a "brain dump,” during which your WorkSitter helps you organize the chaos into a prioritized list and get started.

  • What's the difference between WorkSitter Sessions and virtual assistant tasks?

WorkSitter Sessions = 1-hour live focus and accountability blocks.

Virtual assistant tasks = asynchronous work your WorkSitter does independently, like research, SOPs, email management, scheduling, social media, and more.

  • Can my WorkSitter handle personal/life tasks too?

Yes. Life management is part of the service: meal prep reminders, vacation planning, kid sports scheduling, and booking doctors' appointments. There is no shame in asking for this kind of support. It's all part of how we work. Our founding Visionary calls this “LifeSitter”! These tasks are handled live during your session: your WorkSitter takes them on in real time so nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Can I delegate tasks while I'm working?

Yes. During your WorkSitter Sessions, you can ask your WorkSitter to take ownership of tasks in real time: research, drafts, scheduling, or anything else that comes up. Those tasks get added to your ARO™ list and handled during virtual assistant tasks hours. During the session itself, your WorkSitter's full attention is on you.

Over time, your WorkSitter learns your rhythm and preferences so deeply that they can handle tasks like email responses on your behalf, and they still sound like you.

  • What is the turnaround time for virtual assistant tasks?

Standard delivery is 2-5 business days. Rush delivery (within 24 hours) is available at a higher rate. For example, a 30-minute task is billed as a full hour for rush requests.

How Do I Get Started?

  • Book a Discovery session

A 45-minute Discovery session, that's where it all begins. We'll get to know each other, talk through your needs and work style, and build your profile so we can find the right WorkSitter match for you. We'll walk you through the service, answer every question you have, and by the end of the call, you can join as a member or take your time; we'll follow up with everything you need.

    Ready? Book your Discovery session.

Not ready yet? No pressure. You can sign up for our newsletter to get a feel for how we work, or reach out at hello@worksitter.com. We're happy to answer questions before you commit to anything.

WorkSitter Matching

  • How does matching work?

We don't just assign the first available person. We review your intake responses, time zone, skill needs, personality preferences, and working style to find the right fit. You then have a 30-minute intro meeting with your WorkSitter before sessions begin to confirm that the match feels right.

  • Can I request specific preferences (gender, interests, etc.)?

Yes. Preferences such as working with a female or having a specific cultural background are noted and respected in the matching process.

  • What if the match isn't right?

You can request a different WorkSitter. The relationship is designed to work for you: if the fit isn't there, we find someone better suited. (Note that your WorkSitter will also be asked if the fit is right!)

  • What technical skills do WorkSitters have?

Skills vary by WorkSitter, and during your Discovery session, you can request the specific skills you need; matching is built around you.

    Skills include:

Admin & Organization: Email management, calendar and scheduling, inbox triage, travel coordination, data entry, CRM updates, document organization

Content & Communication: Copywriting, proofreading, blog formatting, newsletter management, SOP creation, transcription, slide decks

Social Media: Content posting, caption writing, scheduling (Later, Buffer, Hootsuite, etc), community engagement, basic analytics

Design & Creative: Canva template graphics, slides, basic photo editing, and organizing your brand files

Tech & Web: Website management, web tools and blog posting (WordPress, Squarespace, etc), spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets), and research

Advanced Skills (Professional Rate): These skills are delivered by professional-level WorkSitters with specialized training and experience. Advanced video editing, web development, graphic design, Adobe suite, and more. Available at a higher rate that reflects their expertise.

  • What if my needs change or grow?

You can add WorkSitters with different specialties as your business evolves. WorkSitter grows with you! We often form teams of WorkSitters for our Visionaries!

  • Are WorkSitters trained in ADHD support?

Yes. All WorkSitters are trained to understand ADHD, provide a non-judgmental environment, and adapt to how neurodivergent Visionaries work.

Tools & Communication

  • What tools do you use?

We adapt to your preferences. Commonly used tools include Zoom, Slack, Google Meet, ClickUp, Asana, Trello, Notion, AI, and email. We work with your tools, not the other way around.

  • Can my WorkSitter use my specific tools (ConvertKit, Pocket Suite, CoachAccountable, etc.)?

Yes. WorkSitters are trained on common tools and are willing to learn niche platforms. If your industry requires a specific tool, we'll note it in your matching profile. All of our WorkSitters are open to learn new tools!

  • Do WorkSitters have their own email, or do they use mine?

WorkSitters will use their own email and could additionally be set up on your domain, depending on your preference.

  • Are there language or communication barriers?

WorkSitters are primarily based in Latin America and Spain, with strong English communication skills and familiarity with the North American market and culture. For neurodivergent clients who are sensitive to accents, this is noted during the matching process.

WorkSitter & AI

  • Is WorkSitter AI-Enhanced?

Yes, and intentionally so. All WorkSitters use AI tools as part of their workflow, from research and transcription to content drafting and task organization. We call this being AI-Enhanced: it means your WorkSitter works smarter and faster, without losing the human judgment, care, and accountability that make WorkSitter what it is. AI supports the work, your WorkSitter owns it.

  • Will AI be used on my work?

Yes, and you'll always know when it is. We believe in transparent, responsible AI use, so if your WorkSitter uses AI to draft, research, summarize, or organize something for you, that's part of the conversation. You stay in control of what gets used and how it's used.

  • Does AI replace the human element at WorkSitter?

Never. The human is the heart of everything we do. AI is a tool that helps your WorkSitter show up better prepared, move faster, and deliver higher-quality work, but the relationship, judgment, and accountability are always human. That's the WorkSitter difference.

Pricing/Investment

  • What does it cost?

The standard rate is $13.50/hour for both WorkSitter Sessions and virtual assistant tasks.

    Additional rates:

    • On-Demand Session (extra focus session outside your membership, booked on the fly): $16/hour
    • Extra hours (additional virtual assistant hours added on top of your membership in a given week): $15/hour
    • Advanced tasks (web development, Adobe design, complex branding): $22/hour
    • Rush delivery (within 24 hours): 30-min task billed as 1 full hour
  • How does billing work?

It's a membership model billed every 4 weeks, like Netflix, but for your productivity. Payment is charged automatically to a credit card.

  • Is there a setup fee?

No setup fee. In your first week, 1 hour is used for internal onboarding (30 minutes for onboarding and 30 minutes for your intro meeting with your WorkSitter).

  • How many hours should I start with?

2-5 hours/week is recommended to start. This builds a habit without becoming overwhelming. You can always increase as you get comfortable.

  • Is there a maximum number of hours?

No! We can grow a team for you with multiple WorkSitters!

  • Can I change my membership level?

Yes, upgrade or downgrade at any point. Mid-cycle changes are prorated. 7-day advance required.

  • Do unused hours roll over?

No, all hours are used during the week. We have a system called  "Overflow Requests," which are predetermined tasks, such as research, SOP creation, and website review, that always need to be done. This ensures you get full value from your hours even in lighter weeks.

Commitment & Cancellation

  • Is there a minimum commitment?

    Yes, 2 hours/week minimum.

  • How do I cancel?

One week's notice is required to cancel a WorkSitter Session.

For full membership cancellations, 7 days is required, though 20 days is appreciated, as there's another human on the other side planning their week around you. No long-term contracts.

  • Can I temporarily pause my membership?

Yes. A $25 pause fee applies to memberships with VA hours to hold your WorkSitter's time while you're away for up to 2 weeks.

  • What if I need to pause for more than 2 weeks?

You can pause for more than 2 weeks, however we can not guarantee that your WorkSitter will be available when you get back. We can guarantee that we will find someone for you!

  • What if I'm not ready to start yet?

No pressure. We can send you an activation link to use whenever you're ready. But if you'd like a taste of what WorkSitter can do for you, we have two options:

    • Try a free WorkSitter Session: experience the magic formula firsthand before committing to anything.
    • Book a Delegation Workshop ($35): a focused session where we map your workload, identify what to delegate and to whom, and outline simple handoff processes so things actually get done. A great starting point if you're not sure where to begin.

Security & Trust

  • How is sensitive information handled?

WorkSitter treats client information as a sacred space. WorkSitters can be given access to accounts and billing platforms. Sensitive client data should remain in separate, encrypted programs. We recommend using a secure password manager rather than sharing credentials in shared documents.

  • Can my WorkSitter sign an NDA?

Your WorkSitter already has. All WorkSitters sign a confidentiality agreement with WorkSitter S Corp of California, so your proprietary information is protected from day one, no individual NDAs needed.

For Specific Situations

  • I'm not an entrepreneur, can I still use this?

Absolutely. WorkSitter works for academics, creatives, people in career transitions, and anyone with personal goals who wants support. You don't need to run a business to benefit.

  • I've had a bad experience with a VA before. How is this different?

We hear this often. The key differences: (1) we match intentionally, not randomly; (2) WorkSitters are trained in ADHD and accountability, not just task execution; (3) we're primarily based in Latin America with strong North American cultural alignment and time zone alignment; (4) if it doesn't work out, we find you a better match.

And here's something most agencies won't tell you: we can start slow. Most VA agencies require a high minimum number of hours per week before you even know if it's a good fit. At WorkSitter, we ask for just 2 hours, so you can experience the service, build trust, and grow at your own pace.

  • I need help urgently; my business is in crisis. How fast can you start?

We work as fast as we can to find the right match. Typical matching time is 2–5 days. If you have an urgent situation, let us know during the initial call so we can prioritize. We can also immediately offer WorkSitter Sessions with open WorkSitters (this will not be the person you are paired with, but can get you focused help the same day!)

  • I have a team, but I'm still doing everything. Can WorkSitter help?

Yes, this is more common than you'd think. WorkSitters help close the loop on delegated tasks, meeting prep, inbox management, and content and admin that fall through the cracks, even in larger teams.

  • I'm a coach or service provider with sensitive client data. Is this safe?

Yes. Your WorkSitter already has a confidentiality agreement with WorkSitter S Corp of California, so your clients' data is protected from day one. We recommend using a secure password manager instead of sharing credentials directly, and we design workflows to keep sensitive information under your control at all times.
